ONE WAY TO PUGLIA (VIA PARIS, STUTTGART AND VENICE)

Danielle travelled from London to Puglia for a wedding. She had lunch in Paris and dinner in Stuttgart before boarding a night train to Venice. After a day and night exploring Venice she got the train to Bari and stayed in Puglia for a week before flying home.

The travel cost for her one-way rail journey was £260 (including an interrail pass, all seat reservations and a bed in a female-only 4 x berth sleeping couchette).

MAINLAND GREECE (VIA PARIS, CHUR, MILAN, BRINDISI, VENICE and STUTTGART)

The Mellors visited Greece in April. They had lunch in Paris and a night in Chur before boarding the scenic Bernina Express. This took them to Tirano and then onto Milan via 55 tunnels and 196 bridges! They then carried on down to Brindisi before getting the ferry across to Igoumenitsa. After spending 10 days exploring mainland Greece (using buses and a hire car) they got the ferry back over to Italy, spending two nights in Venice, a night in Paris and then home.

The total travel cost was approximately £475pp (including three nights accommodation on boats and night trains)

LAKE BLED (VIA SALZBURG AND MUNICH)

The Tudors went to Slovenia in October. They went all the way from Bristol to Salzburg in 1 day, connecting to a night train in Paris after an early dinner. Following a day and night exploring Salzburg they went through the Julian Alps to Lesce Bled. Here they spent 4 nights beside Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj. They made their way back through the Alps to Munich, staying for 2 nights, before coming all the way home.

The total travel cost was £250pp (including interrail passes, all seat reservations and a private 6 x berth sleeping couchette on the night train to Salzburg).

MALLORCA (VIA PARIS AND BARCELONA)

The Badocks went to Mallorca for a week of sun, sea and sand. They had an afternoon in Paris and breakfast in Toulouse before getting a morning train to Barcelona. They spent a day and night exploring before getting a morning ferry across to Mallorca. They flew home a week later.

The total travel cost for their one-way rail/ferry journey was £225pp (including interrail passes, all seat reservations and a private couchette on the night train to Toulouse).

DORDOGNE (VIA PARIS AND BORDEAUX)

The Owens went to the Dordogne in May. Leaving London for Paris they had lunch by the Seine before getting a connecting train to Bordeaux. After enjoying a day and night in Bordeaux they had a short scenic journey to Bergerac where they spent the week. They went all the way home in one day a week later.

The total travel cost was £240pp (including interrail passes and all seat reservations).
